The data integration piece of the ClearBlade Platform allows the developer to treat pre-existing databases as a part of the Platform.
This means that 3rd party DBs like like DB2, Oracle, or SQLServer (for example) would have the same REST api and interaction with code services/messaging as a Platform cloud collection. At the same time, all of the security measures provided to the platform would be applied when accessing the existing database. Effectively, one can map a table to a collection. At the same time, the Platform disallows manipulation of the datastore’s schema (adding, removing columns, etc) via the REST api, so developers and a database administrator (DBA) would still maintain control over their database structure.
